At My Mother's Funeral, My Ex-husband's Girlfriend Rushed in to Open the Coffin!
Chapter 1
The commotion had grown too intense, and some kind-hearted person nearby had called the police.

When the officers arrived, I finally broke free, shivering uncontrollably as I knelt beside my mother. "I'm sorry, mom. You can't get rest even on your funeral day. It's my fault."

They were all taken away, and I had to go to the police station to give a statement. As the only daughter of the family, my absence necessitated a halt to the funeral proceedings.

Once at the station, everything went smoothly. The police chief was very friendly towards me, because my company was pivotal to the city's economy.

I hurried back to continue the funeral soon after. As for my ex-husband's girlfriend, Rylee, I was confident that the police would administer just punishment, so it did not bother me further. The funeral resumed and was held without disruption this time, and I managed to bury my mother peacefully. However, I couldn't swallow my rage.

The ringing of my phone broke the silence-it was my ex-husband, Wyatt Wilhelmina.

"What is it?" Seeing him reminded me of Rylee Neeson, and anger began to simmer within me.

"Lajoi Hull! Are you nuts? Rylee was just being a bit willful, wasn't she? Why wouldn't you sign the letter of forgiveness?"

Wyatt barked at me right away. His words fueled my anger more.

"Wyatt! Do you dare to confront me? If your mother's funeral got ruined, would you write a forgiveness letter? Get lost!"

I hung up immediately, not wanting to waste another second on that fool.

I knew nothing about a forgiveness letter. The funeral incident had caused such an uproar. I barely managed to handle it and could not attend to anything else.

But since Wyatt mentioned it, I decided to ask the police.

I wasted no time. I drove to the police station. Upon entering, I saw Wyatt comforting Rylee.

"Wyatt, I only yelled at her a few times at the funeral, and she had the police arrest me! She needs to forgive me for them to let me go," Rylee sobbed, her words nauseating me while Wyatt took them for truth. Just as I approached, Wyatt stood up abruptly and confronted me.

"Lajoi, really? As the CEO of such a large company, can't you be a bit more tolerant?"

I looked at him and scoffed, then slapped him across the face. "Are you deaf? Didn't I tell you over the phone? She knocked over my mother's coffin!"

"Do you trust her that blindly? If she told you to die, would you?" I roared. Wyatt's eyes reddened as he raised his hand to strike back, but the police intervened upon hearing the commotion.

The police chief came out, handing Wyatt a statement with a look of disgust.

"Read the statement for yourself! This is what Rylee has said!"

Wyatt read it, scoffed, and threw the statement away. "Birds of a feather, huh? Bullying Rylee with your power, right? You and your police friends are ganging up on her!"

"Lajoi! I'm telling you, this isn't over! I advise you to sign that forgiveness letter soon, let Rylee go, or else, just wait and see!"
