Crying for a Second Chance
Chapter 1
After sending the message, it felt like a stone sinking into the sea.

It wasn't until two days later, at my mom's funeral, that Jade announced the cancellation of the wedding.

I knew she was angry again.

She was convinced that I was jealous, deliberately trying to provoke her with the breakup.

So, to punish me, she pretended to cancel the wedding, waiting for me to beg for forgiveness.

During our three years together, whenever we argued, she would scare me with this kind of breakup.

In the past, I would panic and immediately apologize to reconcile.

This time, she used the same trick, thinking I would beg her to reschedule the wedding, but she was wrong.

This time, she hurt not only me but also indirectly caused my mom's death; I hated her!

It was all my fault! Loving Jade like a puppy without boundaries is what drove her to kill my mom!

Kneeling at my mom's grave, my heart felt like it was being sliced apart.

"Mom, I'm sorry! I'm the one who killed you!"

In the photo, my mom's smile was still radiant, as if saying she didn't blame me.

A thunderclap rang out, and the rain began to fall.

I knelt in the rain, letting the water lash at me.

The biting cold made me cry out loud; from today on, I no longer had a mother.

The rain grew heavier, and my vision blurred.

Finally, everything went dark, and I collapsed.

When I woke up again, I was in a hospital, with an IV needle still in my hand.

Wasn't I at my mom's grave? How did I end up here?

Suddenly, my stomach churned violently; I bolted out of the ward, IV in hand.

I had hardly eaten anything since my mom's death, and after getting drenched in the rain, my stomach problems flared up.

But before I could reach the bathroom, I bumped into someone.

"Corey, what are you doing here? Are you stalking me?!"

It was Jade.

Next to her was a delicate, thin man-her ex-boyfriend, Ashton!

"Jade, who is he?"

Jade gently reassured him, "Just a friend. Wait for me over there; I need to talk to him."

I covered my mouth, wanting to escape, but Jade stopped me.

"Corey, don't do anything disgusting. You're not allowed to stalk me anymore."

I couldn't hold back and vomited.

The yellowish, sour liquid splattered onto Jade's hand, infuriating her.

"Are you trying to gross me out on purpose? If you keep this up, I really will cancel the wedding?!"

My eyes burned red as I forced down the bitterness and quietly spoke:

"I wasn't stalking you; I collapsed and was brought here."

But Jade pointed at the IV bag labeled 'glucose' and sneered,

"To fool me, you even got this non-medication? Don't test my patience-get out of the hospital now, or I really won't marry you!"

She threatened me through gritted teeth, and Ashton's voice came from behind:

"Jade, you're going to marry him? Are you breaking up with me?!"

His face was pale as he trembled, pointing a finger at me.
