Noticing my silence, someone finally sensed that something was amiss.
A man standing next to Asher turned and frowned at him. "Asher, today is your birthday, and Eleanor went to great lengths to celebrate it for you. How could you do something like this? It's like you're slapping her in the face in front of everyone."
"Go apologize to her. No one can tolerate being humiliated like that."
Asher looked at me and sneered, his tone full of disdain. "What's the big deal? If she can't take it, she can just break up with me."
Before he could finish his sentence, I immediately responded, "Alright."
