Chapter 5 Humiliation
Kennedy entered the meeting room, followed by Charlotte; everyone in the room gasped in astonishment to see her behind him.

Everyone knew Nathan had been the only one to serve Kennedy all these years. Now that a woman was appearing at his side out of nowhere, everyone started guessing the sort of relationship the woman had with him.

It wasn't the first time Charlotte worked as an assistant, but she'd never witnessed such a grand occasion before. Moore Group's meeting room was extremely spacious. After all, Moore Group was the top leading group in North City.

As soon as she entered the room, Charlotte felt a strong sense of tension in the room. Feeling the stress, Charlotte's shoulders tensed up unconsciously from receiving all the gazes from the others as she entered behind Nathan and Kennedy.

When they finally reached their seats, everyone fixed their gaze on Charlotte.

"President Moore, is she..."

Manfred was Moore Group's vice president, so it was inevitable he would be joining the meeting as well. At that moment, he was surprised at seeing Charlotte, too.

Charlotte played with the corner of her shirt anxiously to calm herself down. She gradually raised her eyes and found a gentle, familiar face among the curious gazes from the others.

It was Manfred.

As their eyes met, Manfred gave Charlotte a warm smile and nodded at her.

At this moment, Charlotte's nervousness eased from his smile, and she gave him a shy smile back.

Charlotte realized Manfred was indeed a gentle and kind person.

Despite it being a small and insignificant action, Kennedy noticed them all the same.

A coldness flashed across his eyes, and he squinted his sharp eyes as he replied. "Care worker."

"Huh?" Everyone was dumbfounded to hear his answer.

What does he mean by a care worker?

Even Charlotte was confused by his response.

"President Moore, who did you say she was?"

Kennedy's pupils were as dark as night. He slightly raised his brow and answered the one who asked the question.

"My grandfather has hired a care worker to take care of my daily needs."

Listening to such mean and awful remarks, Charlotte's face gradually turned pale and lowered her gaze to look at Kennedy.

I'm here to be his assistant. Since when did I become his care worker?

While she was still in a daze, Kennedy barked an order at her coldly. "Coffee."

Charlotte was still rooted to the spot. She only reacted to the order when Nathan shoed her away, and she quickly left the meeting room to make coffee.

When she came back with the coffee, the meeting had already started. So, she placed the coffee in front of Kennedy.

After taking a sip, Kennedy frowned. "Too sweet! Another!"

Soon, everyone in the meeting room kept hearing Kennedy's complaints, requesting poor Charlotte to change the coffee over and over again.

"It's tasteless!"

"Too hot!"

"Too cold!"

Charlotte went back and forth countless times just because of a cup of coffee. Kennedy had turned the meeting room into a stage to show everyone how he was bullying her.

All the gazes, from pity to sneering, from the others, caused her cheeks to flush in embarrassment.

Just when she was about to burst from her anger, she thought of the Wilson Family's condition. So, she took a deep breath, held back her anger, and went out to make another cup.

Thud! The coffee cup was slammed on the table, startling everyone in the room.

"Is that all you got? And you think you can be my care worker with that kind of efficiency?"

Charlotte stood in her spot, her face pale.

Manfred, who was sitting not far away from them, frowned as he saw this and said, "Kennedy, that's enough."

Oh? Is Manfred speaking for her? It seems that this woman is not as simple as I think!

The smile on Kennedy's lip turned cold. "Are you feeling bad for my care worker? How about I give her to you?"

Charlotte bit her lip and her fingers trembled.

He's too mean! Now I know why he agreed to let me stay. He only wanted to insult me! He probably perceives me as a woman who insists on marrying a rich person at all costs. That's why he hates me so much!

"Kennedy, why are you like this? After all, she's still your-"

Before Manfred could expose their relationship, Nathan butted in coldly. "Vice President Moore, don't you think you've meddled too much? President Moore is just teaching her to make good coffee."

Manfred seemed like he wanted to speak up more for Charlotte, but Charlotte quickly took the chance to speak before he could. "I'll make another cup of coffee for Young Master Moore."

With that, she grabbed the cup and left the meeting room.

One cup, two cups, three cups...

Charlotte had been running back and forth from the meeting room to the break room during the entire meeting. Kennedy wasn't satisfied with any of her cups of coffee throughout the meeting, yet she didn't complain at all.

She was still making coffee, even by the time the meeting ended.

Nathan, who was standing at the back of the room the whole time, felt bad for her. Seeing the people in the room had all left, he stepped up to Kennedy's side and whispered to him., "Mr. Kennedy, let's forget about this now. I think we've taught her a lesson."

Kennedy sneered. "This kind of woman won't give up if she doesn't receive treatment like this."

He wanted to see how much longer she could endure.
